Also, the judge said that the government picking winners and losers under these circumstances shall not happen again in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: A federal judge on Monday struck down Gov. Tom Wolf\u2019s pandemic restrictions that required people to stay at home, placed size limits on gatherings and ordered \u201cnon-life-sustaining\u201d businesses to shut down, calling them unconstitutional. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/sxdqroQLrk\">https:\/\/t.co\/sxdqroQLrk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; WNEP (@WNEP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WNEP\/status\/1305561443283197952?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 14, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This ruling occurred after a lawsuit was filed back in May against Governor Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine by Republican officials like Congressman Mike Kelly and state Reps\u00a0 Marcie Mustello, Daryl Metcalfe and Tim Bonner, plus Butler, Fayette, Greene and Washington counties.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney Tom King representing the plaintiffs has said that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t seek a dollars worth of damages, we sought a declaration that these things were wrong and that\u2019s exactly what Judge Stickman\u2019s order finds. The state was wrong\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt declares that the stay at home orders were unconstitutional \u2014 should never have happened, that the business shutdown orders violate two sections of the U.S. Constitution and picking winners and losers shall not happen again in Pennsylvania under these circumstances\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Tom Wolf\u2019s administration will appeal the ruling. Judge William Stickman wrote in his ruling that the pandemic policies imposed by the Wolf administration have been arbitrary, overreaching and they violated US citizens&#8217; constitutional rights.<\/p>\n<p>Stickman wrote that even if the governor&#8217;s measures were taken in good faith, the authority of government is not unfettered even in an emergency.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump tweeted:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Great News, Mike! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/E0IHPAncn7\">https:\/\/t.co\/E0IHPAncn7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\/status\/1305612950334439425?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 14, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The PA governor&#8217;s spokeswoman has said that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe actions taken by the administration were mirrored by governors across the country and saved, and continue to save, lives in the absence of federal action. This decision is especially worrying as Pennsylvania and the rest of the country are likely to face a challenging time with the possible resurgence of COVID-19 and the flu in the fall and winter.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>These actions were mirrored across the country.
