A European Union court has ruled in favor of Apple in an appeal of an order to pay Ireland \u20ac13 billion euros in back taxes. The ruling complicates EU efforts to rein in tech giants in Europe.<\/p>\n

The General Court of the European Union (GCEU) has annulled\u00a0the decision taken by the Commission regarding the Irish tax rulings in favour of Apple.<\/p>\n

The subject of Apple\u2019s tax arrangements has long been used by critics to point out that the company is not as high-minded as it makes out. As the iPhone maker has grown to being one of the largest and most profitable in the world, the chorus of people asking where its profits go has grown louder. And, as regulators began examining just how Apple handled its profits, concerns about tax avoidance became harder to ignore.<\/p>\n
