For years, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet calculator has supported the function of inserting images into tables. However, these images floated above the sheet instead of being directly in the cells. However, this should change.<\/p>\n
Microsoft is currently testing a new function for Excel called IMAGE() that should get the image directly into the cell. The main advantage is the fact that when manipulating the spreadsheet, editing columns and rows, the image stays in the same place and doesn’t move anywhere.<\/p>\n
The IMAGE function can import images from a URL that are in BMP, JPG, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, ICO or WebP format. There’s even an option to choose alternative text, which is also very welcome. Other attributes of the new feature include the ability to optionally set the height and width of the image. You can either do this in pixels, adjust the image aspect ratio or keep the original size.<\/p>\n

Anyone who creates templates and documents that are intended to look more like a web page will appreciate the new feature.<\/p>\n At the moment, the IMAGE feature is available in the Office Insiders beta channel for Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android.
