New Zealand eases obligatory restrictions of wearing masks to public transport and places as COVID-19 cases continue to fall.

Since Wednesday midnight wearing a mask has only been obligatory in Auckland, the core of the COVID-19 outbreak. All strict practices against the virus were lifted on Monday across the entire country.

New Zealand was greatly acknowledged all across the globe for winning the battle against the deadly virus. Life was resumed towards normal in June but cases started to spike in Auckland in August. Due to such circumstances, Auckland imposed a strict lockdown with restrictions across the country.

Except for Auckland, all other cities have resumed back to level one – the lowest phase of high alert. This means people can move freely without practicing social distancing in gatherings like parties, weddings, etc. As  Auckland is on level two therefore mask-wearing is obligatory for the locals. The same goes for people traveling from and to Auckland.

Although face masks hold a significant position in this pandemic yet it is astounding to witness that it is resisted by a large number of citizens in Europe, the USA, and New Zealand too.

As everything is getting back towards old normal Epidemiologists have shown great concerns regarding the dropping of masks. They spoke it was not a regular practice that is why people have never been used to it.

More than half of the countries over the world have made mask-wearing an obligatory rule.  Vietnam was the first to come up with the policy of wearing masks in March. In Hongkong after the SARS outbreak in 2003, the government issued a nationwide mandate of mask-wearing primarily for a sick person.

The United States recorded most of the deaths globally, but earlier, President Trump claimed that wearing masks is an individual’s own choice. This erupted in various debates and criticism by the experts.

Dale Fisher, a professor from the National University of Singapore, said at first it sounds great to think how life is back towards what it always used to be but eventually a time will come when the borders will be opened. There will be clusters of cases and masks are and always will be a major tool of defense against the deadly virus.
