Netflix Apologizes For ‘CUTIES’ Poster That Was Criticized For Sexualizing Kids

Category:

Netflix is currently preparing to launch a new movie featuring an eleven years old girl who finds success in twerking after  joining a dance crew. This movie plot may sound creepy to our readers, and more like a premise from R. Kelly and Jeffrey Epstein.

However, Netflix already has a history of producing content that was deemed to promote pedophilia, so this is nothing new really. The new movie is so blatantly sexualizing little girls, that even parts of 4Chan banned sharing it, fearing that it may encourage users toward pedophilia.

If 4Chan bans your content, this is a clear sign that you went way too far on the dark side of the force. However, even if Netflix has a history of making problematic content about kids that no one likes, and with pedophilia conspiracies at an all time high, one would imagine the company having a little tact. But they seem not to care.

Here’s the trailer:

Here’s from Netflix’ original description of the movie:

“Amy, 11, becomes fascinated with a twerking dance crew. Hoping to join them, she starts to explore her femininity, defying her family’s traditions”.

The film is rated MA (mature audiences), yet it almost exclusively depicts 11 year old girls from a “diverse” cultural and racial background, including a Muslim girl.

Following the public backlash, Netflix apologized today, but only for the poster, not for the content of the movie, and it looks like they are going to release it anyway on September 9th. Here’s the apology:

“We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Cuties. It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film which premiered at Sundance. We’ve now updated the pictures and description.”
