Two suspects in the motorway gang rape case were identified after the DNA test.

On Saturday Prime suspect was identified as Abid Ali, a resident of fort Abbas, Bahawalnagar district after samples matched with evidence collected from victims’ clothes by his previous criminal database of 2013 for another rape case. The second suspect has been identified as Waqar ul Hassan shah.

The horrendous gang rape of the women in front of her children took place on Tuesday and twelve suspects were arrested initially. The Punjab government formed a high-level committee to probe into the investigation of the Lahore motorway rape case. The committee is beheaded by Punjab Law minister Raja Bashrat Ali, DG forensic, and several important members.

But later on Saturday Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar announced the government has been able to identify both criminals involved in the horrific motorway gang rape case while addressing a press conference alongside the Punjab inspector general and law minister. The chief minister personally talked to the victim and assured her that she will be served with justice by all possible means.

seven cases including two gang rapes were registered against prime suspect Abid Ali between 2013-2017 while two robbery cases were filed against Waqar ul Hassan who was released 14 days earlier on bail.

Police have conducted several raids in suspects’ residences but were not able to catch them as this information started circulating all over the media and the culprits had an idea that police will arrive at any time.

Earlier police raided the house of abid Ali in civilian clothes and cars but as soon as he saw the vehicle stop near his residence he along with his wife immediately fled from the scene . However, the police were able to find his daughter

The second suspect Waqar ul Hassan is a resident of Ali town and has also managed to flee.

Chief Minister has announced a reward of Rs 2.5 million for each of the suspects if any information leading to the culprits is shared with the authorities. He assured that the identity of those willing to help will be kept confidential at all costs.
