Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) has discovered a very large place in Arnona, an area located in Southern Jerusalem.

According to the directors of IAA, Neria Sapir, and Nathan Ben-Ari, this is the most important discovery of recent years in Jerusalem. History of Jerusalem reveals that this is the place where a lot of ancient civilizations were settled. But this is the most significant discovery. After analyzing the objects and infrastructure of the place, IAA has claimed that this place was a food storage facility.

The place has highly organized walls. Archeologists have also discovered approximately 100+ jar handles and seal impressions with old Hebrew writing script. In ancient times, the seal stamps were used for the authentications of the documents and different objects. Most of these objects have a seal impression saying “LMLK” (to the king) plus the name of some city of those times.

The objects were mostly sent to the senior officials and wealthy people from the period of 960 BCE and 586 BCE.

The place also reveals that this was the food storage facility for the kings of Judah named Hezekiah and Menashe. The kings might have used this place as storage for raw food.

The directors of Israel Antiquities Authority added that they have found many small idols of animals, women, and riding horses. This was supposed to be something related to religion. The objects and small statues were interpreted as idols for pagan worship. This phenomenon was extremely customary as stated in the bible.

The city seemed to be abandoned soon after the destruction of Judah Kingdom probably in 586 BCE. But the structures and objects discovered form that place also indicates that the place was reconstructed after the exile of Babylonian.
