Lucid Motors is profiling itself as a serious competitor to the established Tesla or Porsche with its Taycan model. Looking into its range, it certainly has the potential to appeal to customers around the world.

It currently offers four versions of its Air sedan. The base Air Pure has 358 kW (487 hp) and can travel 653 kilometers on a single charge. In the US, it costs $77,400, roughly 73,000 EUR. The Touring version will offer 462 kW (629 hp) thanks to two electric motors and will also travel around 650 km. The Grand Touring version boasts 783 kW (1,065 hp) and a range of up to 830 kilometers. The Dream Edition is the highlight, with 828 kW (1,126 hp) and a range of 837 km (520 miles). Both high-performance models have a top speed of 270 km/h (168 mph).

A spokesman for the manufacturer has now confirmed to Autocar magazine that the cars will also be delivered to customers in selected European countries and the Middle East from June. China is expected to follow next year. According to behind-the-scenes information, Germany is to be the first market, followed by Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Monaco, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Norway and even Iceland. The full Air EV range will be available to British customers to order online for deliveries from 2023, according to the report.

The manufacturer is currently preparing a three-engine version of the Air, which could have a power output of over 1,200 kW (over 1,600 hp). Not that the current most powerful variant lacks speed, it will reach 96 km/h (60 mph) in 2.5 seconds. This same motor setup will also find its way into the top version of the upcoming Lucid Gravity SUV, set to debut towards the start of 2024. European prices have not yet been released.

The California-based electric vehicle startup said last month that it was lowering its production target from the original 20,000 units to between 12,000 and 14,000 units. In March, it announced to investors that it has so far produced 400 units of the Air model with more than 300 units delivered to customers, while its order book continues with more than 25,000 orders.
